Positive Feedback From a Customer

Amy recently opened an note with an order that just made our day.  Here is what it said: "Yay! I I'm so pumped to get some real heroes into my boys hands in a way they can relate to outside of a Sunday school setting and that can visually compete with all the good, but yet fictional super heroes." - Chanel Stevens  What a great way to start the day!

Chanel couldn't have stated our goal any more succinctly.  This is what we hope for for all of our children!  Enthusiasm and encouragement to reach their divine potential.

My Super Hero

I just had to drop a quick note in gratitude and recognition of today's superhero.  His name is Brad and today he appeared in my driveway with his grandson and snow shovels and set to work making sure I could get myself and the kids out to school.

That might not seem like a big thing to most people, although anytime someone else is willing to shovel snow it is pretty incredible, but with Lance gone to Alabama it was a Godsend.  Without his help I and the kids would have been late to school.  Then I would have had to come back and try to scrap all the packed snow out of the driveway.  Have you noticed how much bigger your driveway is in the winter when you are shoveling snow!

Sure, I could have done it myself and in the grand scheme of things it wouldn't have really mattered if the kids were a little bit late to school but the kindness and thought that went into getting over to our house was very touching.  It also saved me from more than a little bit of stress.

I have been going over this in my mind and suddenly realized that Brad was a hero because he was doing what makes all hero's super, service!  Looking out for each other, helping (serving) people in need is what make a SuperHero!  Luckily we don't have to be able to see through buildings, spin webs, or own an invisible plane to be a hero.  We can ALL be hero's!

HOLIDAYS....ONE DOWN, ONE TO GO!

I love Holidays!  I love the family/friend time and the great food.  And it is a good thing! Holiday feasts at two schools with three different children for which  a big pot of stew was made, bread was baked, pies were baked, ingredients for stone soup was brought, holiday fundraising wreaths and cookie dough were sold, preschool parent fundraising mtg was had, and that was all before the actual feast with the fam occurred!  That included more food, more fun and some travel!  PHEEEWW!  Its the day after and I am up at 6 in the morning worrying about the Relief Society Christmas party, of which I am in charge of, that happens in 6 days!!  Deep breath...It will be great!  Beautiful music, delicious food, (spiritual and otherwise) and then one more holiday responsibility down!  I know I am not the only one ladies....we ARE supermoms, hear us ROAR!

POSTERS!!

The new Scripture Heroes posters are here!!  They are incredible!  In case you couldn't tell from all the exclamation points and capital letters, we are super excited to offer these to you.  The colors are fun and exciting and of course they include a scripture verse.

We are so pleased about how they turned out that we are trying to find a way to get all of our heroes on to posters.  Right now we have Esther (my personal fav), Joseph, David, and Captain Moroni.  The posters are on 80lb gloss paper and at 11x17 inches they are the perfect size for the little or BIG superheroes in our lives.  We worked very hard to find a way to make the price of these super awesome posters very accessible to all of our friends and family.  They are only $5.95 and that price includes shipping it with a postal tube so that there won't be any creases in your poster. (To be honest I am almost as excited about the price as the poster.)

It would be hard to estimate how much time and thought went into having the posters produced.  What seemed like a simple idea turned into a labor of love and as most parents know any labor of love is worth the effort.   We think you will agree check them out at http://www.shop.trueldsheroes.com/. You can also go to http://www.scriptureheroes.com/. This link will take you to the home page, just click on products to see the posters.  Let us know what you think and what additional superheroes you would like to see as a poster, because we guarantee they will look great!

Helaman

This morning as I was reading my scriptures I continued to be in awe of Helaman.  We (Amy and I) recently finished our story of Helaman and honestly we were a little disappointed in ourselves.  We just couldn't find the right words to express how awesome this man was!

Most people know the story of Helaman and the Stripling Warriors but what about the background of Helaman.  He and Moroni appear in the scriptures about the same time but Helman is not referred to a great warrior.  He was a missionary turned warrior by circumstances!  I have been both a warrior (Marine) and a member missionary and quite frankly being a missionary is more amazing.

Here is why I think that:  Anybody can follow order/directions.  It takes real moxy, mojo, moral fiber, whatever you prefer to call it to overcome temporal disractions and open your self and your spirit up the doing what the Lord wants you to do.  These days there seems to be a lot of worldy pressure to be selfish but the key to incredible missionary work is service and love.  Although, Helaman pulled off being a warrior with spectacular results because of his love of the people and the Lord.

Before I get too amped up here is the link to our story on Helaman http://www.scriptureheroes.com/Helaman_Biography.html.  It is at our new website http://www.scriptureheroes.com/.  We hope that it will still give our readers a sense of how powerful we can be when we rely on our Heavenly Father and follow His directions.  As always we appreciate your comments and look forward to hearing about what you think.

Here is how we got started: Once upon a time there was a young Mother who was trying to study her scriptures. Here is her story:
"My name is Amy and I am an LDS mother of 3. My youngest is 4 years old and suffers from superhero obsessive compulsive disorder (SOCD). He has a closet of clothing but will only wear the 4 shirts with superheroes on them. Two of these shirts are pajama shirts but frankly, I am glad to have them so that the other two can escape for a trip through the laundry now and then.

 Amy

One day after at least 3 minutes of uninterrupted scripture study, my youngest became highly upset, due to the fact that he couldn't find his superman shirt and could I go look for it. I knew perfectly well that it was under some things in the laundry basket waiting for it's turn in the washing machine. With a big sigh, I wished how I had a Moroni superhero shirt that he could poor all this matchless enthusiasm into and the idea was born! I'll make one! And visions of replacing Superman, Spider-Man and the others with Moroni, Nephi, and all our true life heroes danced in my head.

Since then, I have partnered up with DKay, my best friend and fellow supermom."

And now you know the story.

Our goal is a "SuperHero Paradigm Shift" for the rising generation. May they come to see Noah, Moses, Esther, and the rest as the superheroes they really are!

We hope to add many more heroes, provide posters for bedroom walls, and create a coloring book in the near future. For now, we hope that these shirts provide a nice option for families suffering from SOCD!

If you are interested in this project, want to purchase a shirt, or simply comment you can check out http://www.trueldsheroes.com/.  We are also on Facebook.
